Clinical History

72-year-old man with headache and dizziness. Neuroimaging shows a right-side extra-axial lesion along the floor of the anterior cranial fossa.

Clinical Discussion

Chordoid meningiomas are a rare variant of meningioma that have a higher rate of recurrence and so are classified as WHO grade II. Microscopically, the tumour resembles chordoma, with cords or trabeculae of tumour cells in an abundant myxoid background. Usually, areas that resemble typical meningioma are also seen. Chordoid meningiomas can be distinguished from chordomas by their dural-based location and negative immunostaining for cytokeratins and brachyury.
