Clinical History

The patient presented with a few months history of "choking when eating" and chronic cough. During upper endoscopy, the following polypoid lesion is seen in the stomach.

Clinical Discussion

A fundic gland polyp is the most common stomach polyp. It is a benign neoplasm composed of cystically dilated glands lined by foveolar, parietal, and chief cells. The majority of fundic gland polyps are sporadic; however, up to 80% of patients with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) will develop multiple fundic gland polyps. Alterations of APC-β-catenin pathway is often seen in both sporadic and syndromic fundic gland polyps.
