Clinical Discussion

Inverted urothelial papilloma is an uncommon urothelial lesion (1% of urothelial neoplasms), often located in the trigone and bladder neck region with a recurrence rate of <1%. It is characterized by a noninvasive pattern of urothelial neoplasia with a predominantly endophytic growth pattern.

The section shows multiple fragments of a polypoid lesion with endophytic growth with anastomosing thin trabecular architecture. The tumor has a smooth pushing contour with invagination into the lamina propria. The overlying urothelium is unremarkable.
