Clinical Discussion
Osteosarcoma is the most common primary sarcoma of the bone, and the conventional type can have predominantly osteoblastic, chondroblastic, or fibroblastic matrix. In this case, the radiogram shows a mixed osteoblastic (bright areas) and osteolytic (dark areas) with extension into soft tissue. Microscopically, abundant chondroid matrix can be seen, in addition to osteoid production and pleomorphic spindle cells.
