Clinical History

22-year-old woman with 5-year history of seizures. Neuroimaging shows a calcified lesion associated with a cyst in the left parietal lobe.

Clinical Discussion

Meningioangiomatosis is a very rare, focal, benign lesion of the leptomeninges and underlying brain parenchyma most commonly affecting young adults. The pathogenesis remains unclear and various hypotheses include neoplasm, hamartoma, and vascular malformation. Headache and seizures are common clinical presentations. Microscopically, cortical blood vessels are surrounded by sheaths of well-differentiated meningothelial cells which deposit collagen. Calcification is a common finding.
