Clinical History

63-year-old woman with drop attacks and memory loss for 2-3 months. Neuroimaging shows a intraventricular mass in the frontal horn of the right lateral ventricle.

Clinical Discussion

Subependymomas are slow-growing, benign glial tumours typically attached to a ventricular wall and are classified as WHO grade I. They are frequently asymptomatic. These tumours are composed of clusters of round, monotonous nuclei in a fibrillary background. There is immunoreactivity for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and variably CD56 and neuron-specific enolase (NSE). There is often microcystic change. Gross total resection is generally curative.
