An excision was performed for a 2.2 cm breast mass.

Clinical Discussion

Cribriform carcinoma is a low-grade invasive breast carcinoma that grows in islands of cells with cribriform spaces. This classification is used in its pure form when the cribriform pattern comprises 90% of the tumour; however, an admixture of up to 50% of the tubular pattern can also be considered a cribriform carcinoma. This pattern is associated with a favourable prognosis, and is characteristically ER-positive and HER2-negative. (PgR is positive in around 69% of cases.)
