Clinical History

Bilateral Salpingoophorectomy for unilateral ovarian cyst; incidental finding

Clinical Discussion

Adenomatoid tumor is a benign tumour of the mesothelial cells of the pelvic serosa. It is the most common benign neoplasm of the fallopian tube and is usually an incidental finding in peri/postmenopausal women. Grossly it is usually <2 cm and forms a firm solid white/yellow mural nodule. The cells of adenomatoid tumour stain positively for cytokeratin, WT1, Calretinin, and D2-40. The main differential diagnosis includes vascular tumor (CD31+) and metastatic carcinoma (CK+, Negative for calretinin, WT1 and D2-40).
