Clinical Discussion

Solid pseudopapillary tumour is a low-grade malignant pancreatic neoplasm of unclear differentiation. It often presents as a slow-growing mass, with metastases occurring in 10-15% of cases. The main histologic features are of solid nests with numerous small vessels that impart a papillary appearance, but that do not form true papillae or true luminal spaces. The cells are uniform in appearance with eosinophilic/oncocytic to vacuolated cytoplasm. The growth is expansile, with infiltration often seen at the edge into the adjacent pancreas.
