Clinical History

Clinical Discussion

Thrombosed vessel with recanalization and intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia - also known as Masson Tumour - is an uncommon benign vascular lesion. It can occur in the skin and subcutaneous regions of the trunk, head and neck region.

Microscopically, the lesion is confined to the intravascular region. Large thrombi can be seen in the lumen, along with papillary projections with fibrous or hyaline cores. There is typically little or no cytologic atypia or necrosis. Clinically, Masson tumour can present as a mass and it may be mistaken for angiosarcoma histologically and radiologically.
