46-year old male with an arm lesion.

Clinical Discussion

Neurofibromas are common benign peripheral nerve/nerve sheath tumours. As in this case, lesions are well-circumscribed, but unencapsulated, showing dermal proliferation of loosely arranged spindle cells. Grenz zone can be appreciated. The cells are arranged in a rather haphazard manner, with variable myxoid to collagenous matrix.

Neurofibromas can be localized or diffuse, and they can exhibit plexiform patterns of growth.
