Clinical Discussion

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a common locally aggressive malignancy with sun-damaged skin. The sclerotic/morpheaform variant of BCC is composed of compressed basaloid tumour nests and islands with surrounding sclerotic collagen. It often does not show the classical histological features of BCC (peripheral palisading, stromal retraction), and has higher recurrence and greater risk of perineural invasion.
