Clinical History

50-year-old woman with T6 paraplegia due to motor vehicle accident 7 years prior and history of extensive spinal surgeries presents with spinal infection. A soft tissue mass is excised.

Clinical Discussion

Ischemic fasciitis is a pseudosarcomatous proliferation composed of zones of fat and fibrinoid necrosis with ingrowth of reactive fibroblasts, myofibroblasts, and capillaries. It is often seen in soft tissues overlying bony prominences in patients with limited mobility.
