Clinical Discussion
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common lymphoma worldwide. This disease typically presents with a relatively rapid onset and can be detected in both nodal and extranodal sites virtually anywhere in the body. Not uncommonly, parenchymal organs such as the liver and spleen may be involved.
As seen in this case, the gross appearance of DLBCL typically demonstrates a white homogenous cut surface with a "fish flesh" appearance. The tumour is generally soft and singular. Hemorrhage, necrosis, or fibrosis may be seen. The gross pathological differential diagnosis of this entity is broad and includes both non-neoplastic (sarcoidosis, infection) and neoplastic (metastases) conditions.
