Clinical Discussion

Angiomatous meningiomas are rare variants of meningioma with indolent behaviour and are classified as WHO grade I. Radiologically, the surrounding brain tissue may exhibit edema out of proportion to tumour size, which may be misinterpreted as brain invasion. Microscopically, there is a predominance of blood vessels over that of tumour cells. The vessels vary in size, may be thick- or thin-walled, and mural hyalinization is a common feature. Tumour cells may show degenerative atypia but show no features of malignancy.
