Clinical Discussion

Benign fundic gland polyps are the most common gastric polyps. They can present as solitary or multiple polypoid lesions and are ssociated with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). The gastric biopsy shown here demonstrates cystically dilated glands lined by foveolar, parietal, and chief cells. No mitosis or inflammation is present and the biopsy is negative for dysplasia.
